Na Tonnta a Ghearradh – Cutting the Waves
Inspired by my surfing experience in Sligo. One of Ireland’s most iconic big wave surf locations this giclée print captures the raw movement and rhythm of the Atlantic. The Irish phrase “Na tonnta a ghearradh” reflects both the physical act of carving through waves and a deeper connection to nature.
Blending fluid, organic forms with a minimalist aesthetic, this contemporary Irish artwork evokes the power, calm, and energy of the sea.
The neutral tones and unique meandering style are used to mimic patterns found in waves in the Sea. Each of these prints is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper and packaged in 100% biodegradable bags and backing boards made from recycled materials. Emily McKeagney is a graphic designer from County Offaly. She takes inspiration for her illustration style and colours from the beautiful landscapes across the island of Ireland.
