The folklore surrounding the Giant’s Causeway, a natural rock formation on the coast of Northern Ireland, tells the story of the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool). According to legend, Fionn built the causeway as a bridge to Scotland to challenge his rival, the Scottish giant Benandonner. However, when Fionn realised that Benandonner was much larger than him, he fled back to Ireland in fear.
Fionn’s clever wife, Oonagh, disguised him as a baby, and when Benandonner arrived and saw the “infant,” he assumed that Fionn must be even more enormous and powerful. Terrified, Benandonner fled back to Scotland, destroying the causeway behind him in his haste, leaving only the iconic hexagonal stones that remain today. The tale reflects the landscape’s awe-inspiring nature and adds a playful, mythical layer to its creation.
Each of these prints are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper and packaged in 100% biodegradable bags and backing boards made from recycled materials.
